AIMIA is the digital industry association for Australia. They represent their members to their broader businesses. They can provide education and training to their members. AIMIA also has a an awards programs
2. why do we need such a body?
We need such a body because they can represent people working in the digital services industry. Instead of lobbying to governments as individuals, AIMIA can lobby with the support of lots of members in the digital industry.
3. What do they provide in the digital media area?
They provide the following to their members education and training, Industry research, business and consumer development, forum and networking events, awards program and insurance and legal services.
4. Go to the Career Centre tab and select one job opening you may be interested in. Explain what interests you in that job . Find out what it needs you to be able to do.
I’m interested in the Websites and application developer for the ABC. It sounds like the most interesting in the Careers Centre and has good pay! The job’s description shows that you’ll be developing and improving their internet TV service, iView. You would also be required to be skilled in the mobile apps department. The job interests me because app and website developments sounds really interesting and would be a good skill to have in the digital world. Too bad it’s in Sydney though!
5. Check out Career Visions to explore some digital/multimedia jobs available.
There are some interesting jobs available like web developer, digital photographer and film animator
6. Go to My Future and investigate what other careers you could do in Digital Media areas. Name at least 5 possible careers, describe what they involve, and the courses you may require to get into that job
Digital video-sound editor – they edit the video sound for multimedia products.
Graphic designer – they use software to edit various graphics and other media into the multimedia package design
intructional designer – designs educational products
Author-based programmer – they use multimedia technologies to design and assemble a variety of images etc for a product
Art & computing studies will help you get a good foundation for these jobs.

8 Which career would you consider pursuing after leaving high school? Explain why. If not why not?
I would probably pursue a career in the ICT industry as I love technology and am a very regular user of it and find it a very interesting subject and something that I would like to take further.
